The Azimut Grande 120SL

Azimut Yachts successfully debuted their brand new Azimut Grande 120SL at the 2011 Cannes Boat Show. At just over 36 metres, she is the most exclusive yacht in the yard’s fleet to date and an important part of the Azimut Benetti Group’s mega yachts business line.
Additionally, she is a shining example of Italian design with exteriors by Stefano Righini Design and interior designs produced by Rome-based Carlo Galeazzi. The 120SL is an ambitious project, aiming for a combination of comfort and performance without cutting any corners.

Upon boarding, one is welcomed on a specious aft deck that combines setups for sunbathing, lounging and al fresco dining. The stern is fitted with a set of sizeable sunbeds, offering a comfortable surrounding for sunbathing and after dinner cocktails. Adjacent, an al fresco dining table is available for a company of up to eight guests.

The main saloon is a bright example of luxurious Italian design. White, cream and gold are the main ingredients of the colour palette in this room. Soft, smooth and large furniture are symmetrically set up in the main lounging area of the saloon. Sofas, chairs and hockers are all designed with an upholstery of light cream with a golden pattern, classic yet modern. One of the main elements of this interior design is light, flowing in from the grand skylight and curved windows on either side. These curves influence both the interior of the main saloon as well as the 120SL’s exterior features. With a combination of straight and curved lines, smooth fabrics, light tones and details of dark wood, completed with an unobtrusive lighting scheme, the main saloon is a modern rendition of classic finesse. Aft, a bar area is conveniently available from both the aft deck and main saloon lounging area, showing a great example of Azimut’s aim for erasing interior-exterior boundaries, since this bar can be easily applied to service guests in both the main saloon and the aft deck.

Fore, the saloon’s dining area can be found, fittingly placed right under the skylight. A crisp, curved white marble tabletop with elegant golden framing, surrounded by classic chairs and topped off with a minimalistic light, successfully form a setting elegant meals. The main saloon in general is a light and spacious area which obviously functions as the central room of the 120SL, combining bar, lounging and dining areas into one light, airy and elegant space. As for all spaces on board, emphasising the vessel’s main concept, large windows assure optimal views and enhancing an “outside feel”, even when inside.

The Azimut 120SL has a total of four guest cabins, configured into two doubles and two twins. The owner’s suite, measuring a total of 43 square metres, boasts an interior style that is similar to the main saloon’s, yet in a more informal and contemporary rendition. Due to grand windows offering dramatic views on either side, the space is bathing in natural light, perfectly framing the elegant design scheme. The dark Zebrano wood panelling, cream coloured carpeting, glass tabletops and mirrors integrated in both the walls and the ceilings are the main elements that turn this space into one luxurious retreat. Modern with classic touches, the owner’s cabins is both spacious and intimate. The owner’s quarters offer his and hers bathrooms, a contemporary design with dark wood and marble, forming an refined and balanced composition of modern lines.

All of the vessel’s guest cabins can be found on the lower deck, with the two twins and one VIP cabin situated fore. Each guest cabins is light and spacious, executed in an similar design with an additional individual colour for details in upholstery. All guest cabins have an en suite bathroom with large shower, and a wardrobe.

The 120SL offers ample possibilities for entertainment and relaxation. On the fore main deck, a U-shaped lounging sofa and additional sunbeds can be found, offering privacy and panorama views alike. Moving up to the flybridge and sundeck, additional sunbeds and lounging setup are available, along with a luxurious Jacuzzi.

With the 120 SL, Azimut successfully blended high-performance technology with Benetti’s extensive expertise with regards to development and custom yachting solutions. The yard’s aim was to have guests limitlessly experience both the yacht and the seas without any restrictions, erasing any boundaries between the vessel’s interior spaces and her surrounding environment. With the 120 SL, the yard has done just that.
